SIDING SERVICE OVERVIEW

Nothing can improve the value of a home more than siding, it is one of the best investments a homeowner can make.  You’ll immediately improve the curb-appeal of  your home, as well as the value of the property.  There are several reasons why you should or want to change the siding on your home: the current exterior of the home may show signs of weathering, peeling paint, cracked or split boards, rotted wood, insects, boards stay wet because they are damaged, loose boards, or present color and style may be out of date.

POPULAR QUESTIONS

  • How do homeowners choose the color of the siding for their homes?

Typically current color trends will dictate the color of your home siding preferences.  Driving around new construction neighborhoods is a very common method of finding colors, as new construction builders are usually up to date with current trends. The siding manufacturers that we use have tools where you can upload a picture of your house that allows you to view different colors on your home.

  • What is the lifespan of siding?

Vinyl siding and steel siding are designed to be maintenance free, so with yearly cleaning they will last a lifetime.

Hardie plank and Lp SmartSide are products that will require maintenance like caulking and paint.  With proper installation and maintenance it is possible they will last 30 years or longer.

  • What are the most common types of siding?

For our market in Iowa, vinyl and insulated vinyl are very popular. Some homeowners like to have the ability to change colors every few years, so products that can be painted are Hardie Plank and Lp SmartSide.  Steel siding is also an option. All of these siding options have their pros and cons, but we can help you determine which option fits the need of your lifestyle.

  • Should you replace your windows when installing new siding?

There are a few cases where it makes sense to consider window replacement when replacing your siding. In most cases it wouldn’t need to be done at that time.
